Individual Counseling - Adults
Anxiety and depression are words that get thrown around in our daily discussion and in the media and they have almost lost their connection to how crummy people can feel. Often, people do not take the time to realize that while some level of disturbance is normal, feeling anxious and/or depressed is something we can work on. Your body and mind are trying to tell you something. We can work together to slow down and listen to what it is saying and work toward feeling better.
Update: Can we talk about isolation due to COVID? What about how the events in the world are contributing to increased anxiety and depression? If you are experiencing these too or experiencing worsening of other mental health symptoms, give me a call. You likely need more support right now.
Update to the Update above: Now that many of us are re-entering the world and getting “back to normal”, things feel weird. We have learned so much about ourselves and what we need from others and now it is time to put that learning into practice. If you need help navigating this challenging time, hit me up.
Special Note: I am Allied with the LGBTQIA+ community, communities of color including BIPOC, and historically marginalized folx. I strive to create a safe and competent therapy environment inclusive of these groups.
EMDR Therapy and Trauma-Informed Therapy
Trauma can be defined in many ways. One is: too much, too soon OR too little, too long. What does this mean? Too much, too soon means that you experienced something that happened really fast, was overwhelming, and could not be understood in the moment. Too little, too long can mean that when you were growing up, there were long periods of time where your needs were not met and that has a lasting impact.
Another way to define trauma is to say that an event was overwhelming and you were alone (or perceived to be alone) in handling the event and the consequences.
Symptoms of trauma manifest in many ways. Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are diagnoses that outline a cluster of symptoms people may have. Other people experience recurrent failed relationships, weight gain or loss, addiction, or depression (just to name a few).
EMDR is a powerful modality for reducing the impact of recent trauma on long-term mental health. The sooner we can desensitize the events in the nervous system, the less “sticky” they are and the better chance for health. Please reach out as soon as possible to process recent events.
We all handle challenging life events differently but the brain reacts to these types of situations in predictable ways. By specializing in EMDR Therapy, I utilize the latest brain-science and time-tested therapies to help people heal and move forward with intention.

Grief and Loss Support
Career Growth and Change
We all experience loss of one form or another during our lives. I offer compassionate support in managing grief. You are not alone in your feelings of loss, I can hold it with you.
We spend far too much time working for work not to be fulfilling. Whether you are in the best career for you and want help learning how to grow or you need help determining a new career path, I can help. I have an engineering background and worked in technology for over 15 years. I can help you navigate the corporate world or explore what it would take to launch on your own.
Addiction Recovery Support
Living sober can be very challenging. You did the hard, emotional work to become sober. Now you are feeling all your feelings. Your relationships probably need healing and that is very hard work. You are still figuring out who you are now.
In my experience, people who deal with addiction issues often have a history of trauma. Working to address the trauma can make space for the healing that must continue for a fulfilled sober life. When you are ready to begin this deep, challenging, and rewarding work, please give me a call.
Infertility and Pregnancy Loss
Grieving about infertility and losing a pregnancy is generally taboo in our culture. Sometimes, with the best of intentions, those around us say that we should ‘just keep going’. While the positive attitude is nice, you may need a place to grieve the loss of possibilities and face the pain you have experienced head-on. I believe that we all grieve differently but that the only way to do it wrong is to not do it. I am here to walk with you and provide a safe space where no amount of grief is taboo.
In-Vitro Fertilization Support
Using medical technology to assist in becoming a parent requires an entirely new vocabulary and a whole range of tests and procedures. Navigating this path often creates its own emotional toll. It can be a rollercoaster that others around you are not able to understand. I can help walk through this process with you and be a foundation of support. Together, we can try to make sense of the unknowns, fluctuating hormones, and factors that play into making big decisions.
